03 / INTEGRATED SYSTEMS
Cartoning Inside a Complete Packaging Line
A cartoner works best when it is planned with the machines around it. GRAND connects tube filling, cartoning, overwrapping, checkweighing and case packing into one coordinated workflow, with one supplier responsible for the interfaces.
Tube Filling and Cartoning Line
Filled and sealed tubes move straight from the GRAND tube filling and sealing machine into the cartoner, where each tube is loaded into an erected carton with its leaflet and the carton is closed.
Planning both machines together keeps tube orientation, line speed and controls matched — one connected line from filled tube to closed carton.
From Cartoning to Case Packing
After cartoning, cartons can be overwrapped with film, checked for weight and packed into shipping cases at the end of the line.
GRAND supplies cartoners, overwrappers, checkweighers and case packers, so the interfaces between machines are planned by one team.

06 / FAQ
Cartoning Machine FAQs
Answers to common questions about horizontal, vertical, and rotary cartoners, carton sizes, leaflets, and line integration.
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and rotary cartoning machines?
Horizontal cartoners, such as the GDS120, GMZ130, GQC120, and GXC130, push products sideways into the carton and are common for blister packs and bottles. Vertical cartoners such as the GKX180 load products from the top, while rotary machines such as the GDJ50 use an indexing station layout for a compact footprint.
What products can be packed with your cartoning machines?
Our models handle blister packs, bottles, coffee capsules, chocolate, pet food, detergent powder, cosmetics and consumer electronics. Product shape, stability and feeding method determine which machine and feeding mechanism are suitable.
What carton sizes are supported?
The carton size range depends on the model and format parts. For example, the GDJ50 handles cartons from 20 × 20 × 60 mm to 120 × 120 × 280 mm. Share your carton dimensions, board specification, and dieline so compatibility can be checked.
Can leaflets be folded and inserted automatically?
Leaflet folding and insertion is integrated on models such as the GMZ130 and GDS120 and is optional on the GXC130. Provide the leaflet size and folding pattern when you request a quotation.
Can cartons be closed with hot-melt glue instead of tuck-in flaps?
Hot-melt glue sealing is available as an option on models such as the GDS120 and GXC130. The right closing method depends on your carton design and market requirements.
How fast are your cartoning machines?
Output depends on the model: the GDS120 runs at 30–100 cartons per minute and the GQC120 at 50–100 boxes per minute. Actual speed depends on the product, carton size, leaflet requirements and feeding conditions.
Can a cartoner be connected to upstream equipment?
Yes, in many cases. The GMZ130 can operate on its own or be connected to upstream packaging equipment, and the GKX180 can be combined with multihead weighing and feeding systems. A line layout and infeed details help with the review.
